Well, I just saw this, and I must confess to a bit of disappointment in losing a Chicago-based blog (and now it's unlikely I'll ever see you on the local roads and trails).

However, your new adventure sounds very exciting, and fulfilling, and an utter dream. I have loved visiting Utah, so you're going to a great place.

As for your decision, it's the kind of thing I look back on and wish I could have done, so I applaud your guts in leaving the familiar. Best of luck to you both.

I'm a big fan of the 10-14 distance for some of the same reasons you said - quick recovery, and if you do a couple in your midweek training, the weekly mileage gets boosted quickly!

good luck! Utah is home to many in my family. The best part about Utah - everything from Cedar City South and Moab. I could live in Zion National Park. Yet, I do like Logan and Cache Valley area, and most of the Canyons along the Wasatch Front as well.

@Chris, thanks! I had that line running through my head a lot throughout the day. It's so true.

@Gretchen thanks lady! It was totally a battle between us and the course, nothing else; and that is SO different from what we're used to. I'm glad we did it. It opens up a lot of different possibilities in my mind now. I'm taking baby steps into the world of beasty courses :) It was a good reminder that it's not always about how fast you can make it through, but rather just getting through it in one piece.

@Leslie/Melty Canadian Girl I have a feeling you would really like this one, even with the heat. Definitely put it on your list!
