Trash Talk

Before I launch into (almost) All Things Leadville, I wanted to share something I'm pretty stoked about, even a month later.  I got to play cover girl for a month back in April!  Chicago Athlete contacted me in March to do a piece on a running group I started here in the city, The Chicago Trash Runners.

At first, I thought they meant they wanted a little blurb on the last page, under the foot doctor advertisements.  Nothing big, ya know.  But then they asked me to schedule an appointment with their photographer.  Ummmmm, what?  Why?  That's when the editor, John, came clean with me, "We're actually going to make you the cover story."

Well that's a first.

So there ya go!  Here's a link to the story if you should feel so inclined to skim it:

Catchy title, huh?

Next up, Leadville's going to be In Yo Face!  Training has officially begun.  Day one = done!

Crash, out.

I had the idea of running around with a Walmart bag today and picking up trash since I saw an uncomfortable amount on the trail that I was on today. I am glad to see it is organized into a group. Good work and great job landing the cover!

Had to no idea I was following the blog of a future Cover Girl. Who knew? :) Fun.

I usually pick up cans and bottles I find if I am near a recyle or trash can. Thanks for sharing!

Great photo, congratulations!

Nice to see some press for trash running.

We missed you at Pineland this year.

Thanks, Blaine! I was thinking about all of you running Pineland while I ran in blistering heat through hilly (and gorgeous) Iowa City!

Hey. Thanks for the inspiration. I ran a trail around a local lake. I got a walmart bag full of trash. It was no surprise most of the trash was closer to the start of the trail. The people too lazy to walk the trail are the same people that are too lazy to throw their stuff away.

Tyler, you freakin' rock! I like to think of our trash runs as Flash Mob type stuff...we run in, clean up an area and then, poof, we're gone. People are left wondering what the heck just happened. I love it!

GREAT JOB!!!
